09/24/08: Update!

Hello all! I figured it was about time to throw an update out for all my friends and visitors. Life is treating me well, and there have been tons of changes for me. The biggest of all is the love of my life, Lisa. She and I have been together for more than half a year now, and we're doing great! We live together in Jemison with our family of - count them - five cats!
We recently stayed at a Bed & Breakfast in Guntersville for a weekend, and we explored a lot of North Alabama. Most people don't realize what we have right here in Alabama. The image below was taken in Little River Canyon National Preserve, near Mentone, AL. Absolutely breathtaking!

I am still happily employed at EBSCO Industries. I work as an official SQA (Software Quality Assurance) Engineer now, testing several products on a daily basis. Lisa will be starting at the Birmingham office in a couple of weeks. It is located at Mt. Laurel, a posh upscale community owned and developed by EBSCO.
Oh, and check out my new car! I ditched the Cavalier, and I now drive a 2006 Chevy HHR. 5-speed. Good stuff! Tag says UZTHE4S.

I'll do my best to drop another update soon!

12/05/07: A Quick Update...

Just a quick update to let all my scattered friends and viewers know everything is going well in the world of Bors. I am sitting in the first night of class for Scripting and Web Design as part of my 6th quarter at ITT Technical Institute.
A bit of good news comes in the form of a promotion at work. After working two weeks, I was informed I would be transitioning into the Web Tester field. In a nutshell, Testers are the last line of logical human defense before an update from the various programming department hits the live servers. It was a monumental move on my part, or so I am told, as that does not happen often (if ever) within my Department.
*bows graciously*
Enough self gratification. I'll keep you all updated as the sands of time progress!

Time for my occasional update on the life of Kevin Gardner.
First and foremost, as of two weeks ago I am now a dutiful employee of Ebsco Industries! I am a Web Support Specialist, handling issues via e-mail and phone with a plethora of Ebsco services and products. No, not sales.. strictly Web Support. More than anything, it is a infinitively logical move on my part due to my degree focus (Web Development).
A bit more on Ebsco:
I currently operate on the second floor of the International Headquarters in Bimingham, AL:

Being the single most beautiful office building I have ever personally come across, it is seated on top of Double Oak Mountain off Highway 280, with around 330 acres around the mountain owned and beautifully preserved by the Stephens family (who are what the EBSCO name comes from - Elton B. Stephens Company). The Stephens family took great pains in preserving the natural beauty of the area, with nearly every tree surrounding the facility being an original that remained throughout construction. It is a hike to my car on a daily basis, and it is a hike I enjoy because of the atmosphere.
All in all, I am very happy I now have a true Monday-Friday job that I can truly appreciate, and one I know I can enjoy in almost every way. I look forward to more favorable updates very soon.

Well, I am unemployed by a brick-and-mortar employer again. After a few months of work, I spoke with my boss there and we parted ways. Don't get me wrong, being a Level III Tech Support Rep was decent, but it felt way too much like working back at Wal-Mart to me. Way too clearance house. Plus, aside from the 'call center' experience, the focus was on hardware support, which is not my degree focus. I am a Web Development student, so while a certain measure of hardware should show up on the resume, my focus should be application support if anything.
So, I am going to support myself on my Web Design talents until I can acquire another job. I have another employer looking to hire for applications support soon, so I should update if that happens or if I get another opportunity.
Thanks for reading!

I had no idea I had neglected my weblog this long! How time flies. I would sorely append 'when you are having fun' to that previous sentence, but life is life. Not to say I haven't had exciting developments in my life, just nothing worthy of appending the word 'fun' to.
So what have I been up to? Good question. As you could surmise, a lot can happen in the course of almost 10 months...

We've all been there... snowed under with projects makes it really easy to forget anything remotely personal. Well, I decided the site needed a little bit of TLC, so I updated the link structure on the main page(s), and removed the long defunct Message Forum.
I also relisted the Costuming section for filler material. Enjoy!

Alright, enough personally-gratifying declarations and clarifications. *smiles*
First off, for those of you reading that do not know me personally - I am a PC gamer. My interests include strategy and turn-based, but my personal forte is MMORPGs. (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games) I make a point to play nearly every one when they release, and very frequently beta test them before they release. My overall favorite is City of Villains/Heroes. Check out my Image Gallery for some insight on the importance of gaming in my life.

First off, for those reading I want to get something straight - namely my stance on weblogs. Put simply, I do not like weblogs as they have stereotypically become. I believe the veritable boom in myspace and livejournal, where anyone with a connection and a computer can post and regurgitate the heaps of garbage that circulates around the internet. As a result, you will probably never see me post anything not hosted off this site unless I am directly involved with it. I'm not a pompus ass. Rather, I would like to do my small part in ebbing the degradation of the face of weblog culture worldwide.

Welcome! My name is Kevin, and I'll be your host. Well, of course I am your host... I run this joint, and decided that I needed to start my own weblog. You are reading it, which means you apparently give a damn. I don't have a schedule or any specific goals with this weblog. As most folks use their weblogs, you are likely to see venting and updates on my life - whatever else shows up... well, just keep reading.
I am going to spend the next few entries to descible myself and my interests. More than anything, I want to take a few entries to simply get used to this interface more than anything.
